Smart City is not just a fancy concept, it is becoming a reality. Thanks to our MB Wi-Fi, the city of Ústí nad Labem is an example. Going along with modern times and technical conveniences has brought the transport company in Ústí nad Labem a great response and interest among passengers. The transport company has thus gained a tool for fast and smart communication with passengers. In June 2018, people can connect to a free Wi-Fi network on forty public transport vehicles and at fourteen stops in the city centre.
Wi-Fi from MOBILBOARD s.r.o. is a solution for the internet in public transport. The routers provide excellent performance and signal availability. They also represent a sophisticated system of placing Wi-Fi modules in public transport stops, where many important requirements and criteria must be observed. In preparing the project, we had to comply with several essential parameters. For example, a sufficient degree of coverage, individual power supply for each stop location, remote accessibility. This also included the overall protection of the facility against weather and possible vandalism.
Flexible communication and remote management tool
The possibility of editing the Wi-Fi landing pages offers the carrier an excellent communication channel between the city or the carrier and the passengers themselves. By segmenting individual Wi-Fi devices, carriers can target passengers on different routes and with different content. Everything is fully managed from one office location. Using the potential of modern technology is one of the key points for carriers to maintain service quality and passenger satisfaction.
The operational statistics for the first month of the service are proof that our project is a success. The Wi-Fi network registered 74,000 connections in this period. This is an interesting and successful result for a city with 93,000 inhabitants. With such a large number of connections, remote management is an important functionality that also allows for the correction of data volume limits for individual connections.
